Llama Training Courses
Llama Trekking in France, Llama Training Courses in France & Smallholding Courses in France
St Bonnet, 03210 Noyant d'Allier, Allier, France
At Border Llamas we offer a range of Llama Training Courses which have been
designed to both introduce the novice to the wonderful world of llamas and to enable
those who already own llamas to develop a deeper understanding of them and how to
further their training. Although we list specific courses we also understand that people
may own or want to own llamas for a number of different reasons, be this trekking,
breeding, guarding livestock or simply for pasture grazing, we can adapt each course to
suit your individual needs so do please contact us and ask.
We have owned, bred, reared and trained llamas for over 16 years and during this time we have gained a wealth of
knowledge through hands on experience, hard work and learning from our and other peoples mistakes. During this time
the one thing that has never waned is our love for llamas.
We offer a range of Courses designed to help you improve your levels of understanding about llamas and level of
interaction you have with your llamas and for those who wish to train their own llamas we provide you with the skills
necessary to achieve this. Our courses are as follows:
•
1 Day Introduction to Llamas Course
•
2 Day Intermediate Llama Training Course (Residential)
•
5 Day Advanced Llama Training Course (Residential)
Our approach to training is to ensure that you are relaxed and comfortable with
what you are being taught before moving onto the next stage, we also ensure that
you understand why you are being taught a particular subject. When we train
people, we speak in plain English, we call a stick a stick and a rope a rope, so there
is no need for you to learn a whole new vocabulary which can be confusing and
often difficult to remember for what are really simple everyday items and
procedures. We do our best to ensure that whilst you are here, you not only learn
but also have fun whilst you are learning.
All the courses (apart from the 1 day intro course) are very much hands on sessions with you working with the llamas.
Theory sessions are held around the farm or at a table with a cup of tea, coffee or juice and if you are really lucky a slice of
home made cake.
We limit the number of course attendees to just 2 people as this ensures you obtain the
maximum amount of training and get the attention you deserve.
Safety is paramount when working with llamas and everything is explained and
demonstrated thoroughly before you are asked to participate. All instruction is
conducted under close supervision. The minimum age for attending these courses is 16
years.
All the courses are conducted in English and so there are no potential translation issues to cope with.
For more information about any of our llamas training courses or to make a booking, please just telephone or send us an e-
mail. Booking, payment methods and details can be found on individual course pages.
If you would like to attend any of the residential courses but would prefer to bring your own accommodation in the form
of a caravan or tent, this is perfectly acceptable and we can accommodate this. Please contact us for a revised price.
If you wish to extend your stay and spend some time just relaxing, please contact us for a price.
Clothing: You should make sure that you bring and wear appropriate clothing, it can sometimes rain or snow whilst we
are trekking, the farm can and does get muddy in places. We recommend wearing a good pair of boots or wellingtons,
gloves outside during winter or your hands will become useless and have a hat handy during summer. We also recommend
you wear working clothes when handling the llamas.
